1 SFTS's Avro Anson (#7550) training aircraft, with an aircrew of three, was flying at a low altitude when it struck some trees and crashed on Fox Island in Lake Simcoe, taking the lives of the entire crew.
The airmen who perished in this accident were-
RAFVR Sergeant Rythwyn Ivor DAVIES,
RAF Sergeant Edward Lawrence EAVES and
RCAF Flying Officer William Arnold NUGENT.

RAF Sergeant Eaves, in Canada for flight training under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP), lost his life in this aircraft accident.
